Yin Yoga is a long hold practice that addresses the connective tissues in our bodies, bones, tendons, ligaments and the collagen fibers that weave our bodies together. Our Yang practices with their holds of 5-8 breaths address our musculature, which responds to faster movement. Our connective tissue needs long holds, 3-8 minutes, in order to respond. there is a rhythm to a Yin practice; a yin posture or two, then a rebound, (Pentacle, Child’s Pose, Mini Savasana) which gives our bodies a chance to assimilate the opening, and then a few yang movements before moving back to yin.
